On September 25, 2017 at 11:45am Naoki Roan David was born! It was a tough pregnancy that included nine weeks in the hospital (room-bound for most of them) with a due date that went from 40 weeks to 37 weeks to 36 weeks as well as any day throughout those nine weeks. Also, Ryan scrambled to move shifts around to take care of Oren, brought dinner to Hiroko daily when possible, carried laundry and Oren back and forth and tried his best to keep spirits up all around. We celebrated two birthdays in the hospital. And the grandparents cycled through for support during the crazy time. But, Naoki came out full of life and energy at 6.0 lbs and 18 3/4 inches long. We were all able to go home after two days and within two weeks Naoki was easily back over his birthweight.
Oren was so excited to have a baby brother. He asked to hold him several times and found him to be ticklish, quickly laughing and declaring "it's all done!" Oren gave Naoki Momochan, the tiger he'd picked out for him and whenever Naoki cried, Oren was quick to bring him his "friend."
Grandma arrived a few days after Naoki was born and was thrilled to see her newest little grandson. She enjoyed snuggling with him, talking with him and seemed to be able to hold him indefinitely.
