Summer is going by so quickly! The sweltering Seattle air and all the homes like ours without A/C have made people either skip town or hide in their basements. We've done a little of both. We have two fans going and windows open, just waiting for a breeze. That means Jersey hears every man, woman, child, Radioflyer wagon, and skateboard rolling by and is on high alert. So, we close the windows and blast the music and remind ourselves fall is around the corner. Oren's enjoyed peaches, bananas, butternut squash, sweet potato, avocado, and apple. His first bite is always a funny face, but then he always seems to like the different foods. He opens his mouth and expects us to navigate the spoon toward him. Unfortunately, he also is very interested in everything else going on around him and turns his head in time to wear on his cheeks and chin whole spoonfuls!
This month we've worked on rolling over, since his new thing is rolling from back to front and then getting stuck. He does this on every single nap! He seems to mind it less and less though and now sleeps happily with his butt in the air. He has also rolled from front to back a few times. he lifts his head up and tips over. It's just unpredictable. We've also worked on sitting up and he is able to sit up for about 10 seconds before falling over like a drunken sailor. We always (so far) catch him. He's started blowing raspberries on a regular basis and recently started combining blowing raspberries and eating his food which makes for a messy meal!
Our old friends Larry and Terry came to stay over and meet the little guy. They'll be working on his sea legs and putting him to work on their boat in the Caribbean one day soon.
Speaking of skipping town, this week we'll be flying to Palm Beach for a wedding and a chance for Oren to meet his Great Grammy and spend time with his Grandma. Isn't he lucky to be babysat and to laze at the beach with such enthusiastic family! Hopefully the water will be warm for his first dip in the Atlantic Ocean.
