What an eventful first full weekend of life! Auntie Mimi arrived on Thursday and JiJi joined us and BaBa on Friday. We had a traditional Japanese celebration dinner - a whole red snapper to celebrate Oren's first week of life. AND after supplemental feeds and finally, the arrival of the "good stuff" from Mama (breast milk does not care that we're Amazon Prime members after all), little Oren bulked up 7 ozs after losing 9 ozs on day 1! He now weighs a solid 6lbs 12ozs so no more kitchen scale and cookie sheet home weigh-ins! Finally, Ryan went back to work on DOL #7. So much for paternity leave...
Daddy shows off his burping skills...

Oren, the little blue elf
Oren's one week celebration dinner, Omedetai!
A fine fish of a fellow, the Red Snapper, called tai in Japanese is also part of the word OmedeTAI and is the symbol of celebration, both for its red color and for the fact that it is nearly impossible to find in Seattle in February.
Oren asks if it can be pureed but mostly just passes. He'll taste it later.
You look like Mama, but...you're, what's the word...awake.
At 12:33am, he slept. Mark the occasion. Carlo saw it.
