May Post

In May, the weather warmed and some days it felt like summer was here already. We made popsicles and soaked up the sun on the front porch. We went for bike rides around the neighborhood. Oren and Daddy went for their first ride on separate bikes around Wallingford Park. Oren's getting really good at his balance bike. We also brought out the kiddie pool and Oren was putting his feet in, then his chair in, and then doing what Mama does and watering the garden with the watering can from the pool water.
In May, Naoki began sitting up, mostly as a way to pull more things towards his mouth - hello feet! We also took Naoki on his first hike in the carrier to Twin Falls in Olallie State Park. That meant Oren had to hike (most of the way) and was rewarded with a cupcake.
Over Memorial Day weekend, the Stones visited. We packed a lot into their trip including, going for another hike, going to a Mariners game, canoeing on Lake Washington, doing the Ferris Wheel downtown. The boys had a great time sharing a bedroom and taking turns waking each other up. Oren and Kaisuke camped out on the floor and Rio decided the bed was for him from night one.  They filled their time chasing Jersey around the house, biking, playing baseball at Greenlake, and took turns walking Jersey.  Kaisuke even held Jersey's leash throughout the entire hike and Oren for the first time seemed to think it was pretty cool that he has a dog. "He can lick my feet if he wants too," were words we never thought Oren, the boy who screams for socks when Jersey looks his way, would say. Oren even took a few turns walking Jersey around the neighborhood (with an extra hand on the leash!)
