Lake Tahoe!

This month we took Oren (affectionately referred to as our house elf) down to Lake Tahoe with our friends Bryce, Kristen and Owen.  The 2 hour plane flight and 2 hour drive from Sacramento to North Star made for a long day but once we got settled into our VRBO house and Bryce and I got groceries for the week we were able to kick back and let the boys explore. Owen was in somewhat addictive Finding Nemo phase and Oren quickly figured out Kristen's food choices taste better than the crap we've been feeding him. Owen also wants everything - remotes, Oren's ipad, Oren's food - blech, fresh fruit? never mind. And so Owen with everything he could find beside him sat down to watch Nemo while Oren hijacked his parents in a very endearing "adopt me!" kind of way. That left Hiroko and I with not much to do and not many devices to do it on so we could just relax.

The kids were also on different nap times and sleep schedules with Oren wide awake by 6am and Owen barely awake by 8am. By the time Owen was fully awake, Oren was ready for his nap so it took at least half the day before both kids were up and ready to go somewhere. We did some good short hikes, forays into Tahoe, and had some good swims at the resort.   Oren went kayaking with us on Tahoe and both kids went into the water at one of the local beaches.

The best parts of the trip were watching Owen and Oren become friends and spending evenings after the kids went down mixing serious cocktails and playing games.
Sharing a seat on the plane. (didn't last)

"You get them to open it. I got them to give us juice."

We're in Tahoe!

Kayaking the blue waters

"Yeah, we don't have the key"

Too young for spitting watermelon seeds?

Picnicking

Rugby, Jimmy, and I are going for a swim.

Probably watching Nemo

Chillin' at the improvised baby gate.

...And as a bonus, Oren dancing! Part 1.
