You could either call me crazy or call me brave but I took Oren on a short last minute trip to Brooklyn over labor day weekend to visit Miwako and the Boys! He did very well on the red eye out and with all the excitement he got over his jet lag very quickly. After a week of cooler rainy weather in Seattle, I was happy about the hot and not so humid days in NYC. Oren, on the other hand, seemed to have trouble adjusting to the climate as he sweated his way through the weekend and his hair became curlier and wilder than ever. Overall we had a great time - Kaisuke and Rioaki were very gentle with Oren and would give him toys and play with him. Kaisuke was very helpful in setting up his bath and showing Oren all of his bath toys. Rioaki seemed surprised and excited every time he saw Oren as he pointed and declared "baby!" Oren was equally fascinated by his older cousins who could run around, dance and play. He didn't need any toys when he had his cousins to watch! Lucky Oren got to eat lots of yummy new food made by Auntie Mimi. On our last night there Mark held Oren for the first time all weekend and Oren was beside himself with joy (the cousins tend to take up most of Uncle Mark's attention). There were lots of firsts including Oren's first time in a NYC subway and his first time in Central Park. Thank you so much to Miwako and Mark for making this trip so amazingly easy and fun - picking us up from the airport, transporting us around, and taking me to eat lobstah rolls! We love you!
Here are a few photos from our trip:
We arrive and the boys immediately gather to say hello and offer Oren their Bumbo
Mets vs Yankees. Ryan interpreted this photo as "yankees drool!"
I'm not sure what Oren makes of being on the NYC subway . . . after the hot elevators and platforms I think he was just relieved that it had A/C!
Fun times at Central Park! Auntie Mimi included Oren in the boys' game of footie but ended up mainly using Oren as a "hockey stick" to move the ball around :)
