Oren and Jersey celebrated with us with a road trip to Portland, Oregon. There, we parked Jersey in the hotel room with Oren and went out for a celebratory dinner at Departure. Jersey was a terrific babysitter and did not even eat any of Oren's toys. We also found a nanny to supervise. The next day, we all went to Voodoo Doughnuts and then hiked off said doughnuts at Multnomah falls. Jersey enthusiastically led the group and Oren fell asleep in his carrier. That night we left Jersey in the hotel room (they had HBO), and took Oren to Andina, a Peruvian restaurant where Oren again fell asleep in Hiroko's arms and missed ceviche and pineapple mojitos. It was a fun weekend.
On Ryan's 36th birthday, he blew out the candles on the first cake Hiroko ever made. It was delicious. Hiroko expertly followed the classic recipe (eggs, chocolate, flour, chocolate, sugar, chocolate, mix, add chocolate, bake). Did Oren have his first cake??? No.
Oren surprises himself by standing in his Jimbei.
And now for the hike at Multnomah...
